COMPASS YOUTH BOARD
The Youth Board is crucial in shaping our operations, each contributing their skills to different areas of the core team and communicating the views of young people. They meet regularly to work on projects behind the scenes, driving change and informing the future policies of Compass.

SHANZAY
Co-director and Social Media
Shanzay is that behind-the-scene dedicated activist, or maybe a die-hard for equality. Her hands are in love with the canvas and the pencil but be careful, she has a big mouth, in English and in Urdu. Only Ferrero Rocher can sway her away from calligraphy. And English tea? “Unbelievable!”

FRANK
Co-director and Spokesman
Mukisa Nsubuga (but frankly you can call him Frank) – This man is from Uganda, tribe is Muganda, and speaks Luganda. Be careful, he is a man of his words who never gives up, who cares about the world. He speaks out for the people with courage and even has an opinion on British tea. Only football with cheese and onion crisps will distract him from politics.

Ahed Aljondi
Researcher & Consultant
As a member of the Youth Board, I strive to have a voice, drive change, and positively impact young people. I’m passionate about creating safe, judgment-free spaces and addressing issues like homelessness and belonging—challenges I’ve personally faced. Through my diverse perspectives, I contribute to inclusive projects and workshops. Outside of Compass, I enjoy reading, writing, and exploring creative pursuits. I believe in stepping outside your comfort zone because that’s how you grow and shape who you are.

Abdisa – A behind-the-scenes advocate, driven by his Oromo roots, While his days are a blend of studying, working, and enjoying grilled chicken, he's fiercely committed to staying connected with his community. If he could have one thing it would be making change, stopping wars, making peace and unity in the world.

MO KASHMIR
Fundraiser and Events Officer
Hi, I’m Mohamed, a Youth Board member currently working on fundraising and activities. I joined to make a difference and help create welcoming spaces, especially for refugees, a topic very close to my heart. I care about inclusion, and I’ve gained confidence through shadowing the team, interviewing people, and working for Refugee Week. I bring lived experience, empathy, and energy to the team.
People don’t always see how deeply this work matters to me: I’m inspired by those who’ve faced hardship and still lift others up. I enjoy being creative while helping others, and I'd describe myself as kind, driven, and thoughtful. My message? Your story matters—don’t hide it.
Each of these bios was created through peer interviews, where members of our Youth Board learned to conduct interviews, research, and write about one another.
