LEAH GAYER
CO-DIRECTOR (ARTIST)
Leah Gayer is the visionary Artistic Director and a co-founder of Compass Collective. Since day one, Leah has been at the heart of Compass, overseeing major projects and fostering partnerships with renowned organisations such as Shakespeare’s Globe, Somerset House, TATE, Southwark Playhouse, BAFTA and the National Youth Theatre .She leads on the developments and partnerships, creating impactful collaborations, and driving Compass's mission forward.
Leah’s knack for juggling multiple tasks (possibly attributed to her unicycling skills!) makes Compass an ideal partner for any creative venture. If you have a project or collaboration in mind, feel free to reach out.

DOROTHY HOSKINS
CO-DIRECTOR (EXECUTIVE)

Dorothy joined as Compass Collective’s Executive Director in February 2025. She has a wealth of experience in small and growing arts organisations, most recently having worked for Create, the UK’s leading charity empowering lives through the creative arts.Dorothy is a Trustee of Fairbeats, a music charity working with young refugees and asylum seekers; she is also Co-Founder and Co-Director of Anthem Music, a CIC delivering creative community music-making projects in south London and beyond. She is also a freelance choral singer. Dorothy is passionate about harnessing the power of the arts to build creative, compassionate communities.

MHAIRI GAYER
YOUTH PARTICIPATION MANAGER

Mhairi is a Co-Founder of Compass and has been there right from the beginning. She has a background in the arts, having trained as an actor at Guildhall School of Music and Drama. She has developed and led many of our projects and is passionate about supporting our Young People to reach their full potential.She is currently our lead Fundraiser and Young Persons Coordinator, welcoming new young people into the Collective. When not working, she can be found climbing, hiking, running and cycling, most likely in the mountains.

SANAM MONTEIRO
YOUTH BOARD CO-ORDINATOR
Sanam is a poet and activist who strives to use her creativity for social justice. She likes to explore her gender, sexuality and ethnicity through drawing, writing and a lot of talking. Throughout her political science studies and her internship at Minority Rights or UN Women, she kept volunteering with refugees and asylum seekers. She wrote words of revolution with refugees in Switzerland.
She wrote words of poetry with refugees in London. She is still to find the words with refugees in Morocco. At times she gets dragged into projects and her words turn cardboard constructions and demonstration. In her free evenings, she makes fesenjoon and cycles through the city for a chat and a friendly tea.

SARA LA ROCCA
WELFARE OFFICER
Sara is a Higher Education professional and Yoga Teacher who is passionate about the wellbeing of all those she works with. She has volunteered with the Red Cross Young Refugee Services for the past seven years as caseworker, project volunteer and yoga teacher.
Sara joined the Compass Team as the Welfare Support Officer in October 2021 and is responsible for ensuring Compass’s young people have access to the support they need as they transition and integrate into life in the UK.

LEILA SEGUIN
FINANCE & OPERATIONS OFFICER
Leila joined Compass Collective in 2020 as a Young Person Coordinator and is now our Finance and Operations Officer, as well as the organisation’s Lead Safeguarding Officer. A French musician with a background in International Relations, she holds a Master’s in Development Studies, where she explored how music can support refugee integration in the UK.Leila previously spent five years at the British Red Cross supporting young refugees and has led numerous cultural projects using music and the arts to empower vulnerable communities. Having lived in Palestine, Jordan, and Lebanon, she recently returned to the international development sector, working with WFD and War Child on democracy and education programmes in the Middle East. She’s currently learning Arabic and loves spending time in Corsica, where her family is from.

TOM GREEN
LEAD FUNDRAISER
Toms role is to help identify potential sources of funders and work with the team to write and submit applications.
He is also leading on the development of our individual giving programme! The aim is to ensure we can maintain our current work and build capacity to do even more in the future.
Tom works as Senior Producer at Counterpoints Arts where his role includes supporting artists and organisations with project development and fundraising, as well as programming events, performances and festivals.

HASAN KATTAN
Hasan Kattan is a producer with over a decade of experience in documentary filmmaking. Emerging from the Syrian revolution, his work is deeply rooted in themes of justice, human rights, and freedom.
He served as the cinematographer for the Oscar-winning The White Helmets (2017) and was Assistant Director on the Emmy award-winning Last Men in Aleppo (2018). Hasan has collaborated with major international media outlets, including BBC and CNN, contributing to powerful news stories and reports. Most recently, he produced Death Without Mercy (2024), a documentary by Waad Al-Kateab that examines the aftermath of the Turkey-Syria earthquake.

MASSI SAFA
This is Massi Safa from South East London. He is a student currently studying business and accounting at Southwark college. He loves acting and being in front of the camera and has recently been accepted as a member of National Youth Theatre (NYT). He does volunteering for British Red Cross, runs sessions regarding to the asylum process for Coram organisation and he is a Compass associate. He joined the Compass team as an actor for “Voices in the dark” and now he is an associate and a very important branch of the team who takes on any role that he’s needed for. He is a big football fan and loves meeting new people.

ELEANOR HENDERSON
Eleanor is a trained actress (Royal Conservatoire of Scotland) and highly experienced facilitator, director, youth leader and participatory artist (trained Royal Central School of Speech and Drama). She was Associate Director of Battersea Arts Centre's resident young company for several years, leading them through projects including a 6 month collaboration with Contact in Manchester.
She is currently Youth Manager for youth engagement charity Hope in Tottenham and Associate Artist for Kestrel Theatre, working within the criminal justice system as director of a range of short-term and longer term projects with offenders and ex-offenders. Eleanor has also led a range of youth projects internationally in India and China. She is passionate about social justice and big bowls of pasta.

As a Culture Coordinator at our organization, Zoe expertly arranges theatre trips and cultural events, ensuring accessibility for all. With a background as an Access Arrangement Coordinator at a Further Education College, she’s dedicated to inclusive experiences. Holding a BA in French Studies and an MA in Translation, Zoe has a passion for travel and multicultural literature. When not exploring new cultures, she enjoys walking and spending quality time with friends and family.

MAIS ROBINSON
COMPASS CULTURE CO-ORDINATOR
Mais is a freelance facilitator, theatre-maker, and researcher with extensive experience working with theatres and community organizations. As the Founder of Theatre of Dissent, a trustee at Babel Theatre, and chair of Equity’s LGBT+ committee, Mais is dedicated to using theatre for political education and activism.
They focus on addressing the interconnected struggles of marginalized communities. In their free time, Mais enjoys writing, board games, and cooking for friends. They are thrilled to join the Compass Collective team to support asylum-seeking and refugee communities through theatre.

ROSIE STANLEY
WELFARE SUPPORT
Rosie works in a school in East London as a Higher Education Co-ordinator, supporting students to access university level education and training. Previously, Rosie has worked with Compass Collective as a sound designer and facilitator, as she enjoys all things creative, especially music! Rosie brings her passion and dedication to the arts to all her work, with the goal of encouraging all young people to explore and access their creative talents regardless of their background.

ELEANOR PARE
WELFARE SUPPORT
Elena is an emerging freelance translator and writer for publications such as ArabLit and The Markaz Review. She has been working with children and adults in various migrant organisations in France, Switzerland and the UK for some years. She currently leads Art & Writing sessions at the Islington Centre for Refugees and Migrants, where she also volunteers as an interpreter. She works part-time at the cultural hub Woolwich Works and hopes to continue developing the intersection between the arts and social work. Elena grew up in Paris to Swiss-British parents and studied Arabic and Persian at the University of Cambridge.
